You won’t hear his music on a pop or crossover station, a la Rascal Flatts or Taylor Swift.
When it comes to Toby Keith, he’s country to the core. And we’re ALL OVER that.
In an age when too many singers try to be everything, to everybody, in every genre, there’s no shame in sticking to your roots.
And Keith, who is in concert Saturday night at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, is country from the top of his Oklahoma-born head to the tips of his boot-clad feet.
Plenty of people who diss country music would point to Keith as an example of what they don’t like. Little thing like lyrics that “we’ll put a boot in your ass, it’s the American way” or songs like “Made in America” and “Beer for my Horses,” which are just so…so…country.
Yup. And that’s the point.
